Hickory Living Alley
Join our party! Friday January 25, 4-7pm, Hickory between Van Ness & Franklin!
In June 2017, Place Lab was awarded a Living Alleys Community Challenge Grant on behalf of the Friends of Hickory, to bring much-needed improvements to Hickory Street between Van Ness and Franklin Streets in San Francisco's Hayes Valley neighborhood. Improvements will include building murals and overhead string lighting, to improve the alley's safety and attractiveness.
We have partnered with ArtSpan on a major 5-building mural that expresses the concept "What does music look like?" and for which we received over 60 design entries. Check out the winning mural design here:
Here is the 2017 grant application project description, including lights and mural:
Mural installation in November, with lights installation in Spring 2019.
